In June, five teenagers were gunned down while sitting in a sport utility vehicle, sparking the return of state police and National Guard troops to help keep the peace in the city. This weekend, six people were shot to death in 24 hours.

Yep. Dary Davies (of the Kinks) was living there and shot in the leg for pursuing a purse thief.
When the country needs an enema to correct any type of problem, the tube needs to be inserted where Canal street terminates at the Mississippi River in NOLA.
However Blacks terminating Blacks has to take place somewhere and they seem good at it!
"In 2000 there were 500+ people murdered in a city of 500,000. It was almost all black on black crime."
203 actually. No need to double the actual number to get a point across. 203 is plenty.
I'm sorry, but after the Katrina looting and the bestial behavior exhibited by some of New Orleans' denizens, it's going to take more than a couple of mere murders to tarnish THAT image.
Well, of course. There have historically been "innocent bystander" victims, too, but right now there aren't many innocent bystanders or tourists around (certainly fewer around historical high crime areas). There was a high "good riddance" factor before Katrina, and the probability of the same is even greater now. If these victims turn out to be tourists, or wealthy Uptown residents, then I guess things really will be getting back to normal, sad to say.
New Orleans' economy is more... concentrated at the present time. Fewer restaurants open, fewer convenience stores, etc. Targets of opportunity are therefore even more likely to draw criminal attention. It's an ugly scenario to be sure, and one which the criminal justice professors will be dissecting for decades to come.
Lagos Nigeria? Except Lagos is about 10 times bigger than NO.
"Because if the cops found it inside the house they have you dead to rights. If it's in a backyard you can claim someone else ditched it there."
That makes zero sense. First, it isn't illegal to own or keep a shotgun in your home in NO. Second, there is no direct way to tie a shotgun to a shooting (no ballistics test). Third, your fingerprints are going to be all over the gun anyway in most cases. The only reason to store a gun outside a house is if you need fast access to it when you're in that location.
Those particular scum receptacles never left. It's hard to loot and pillage from the seat of a bus heading for Houston.
The vast majority of crime in New Orleans is black on black crime. There are some robberies and burglaries that victimize white people. But, for the most part the black drug dealers are shooting other black drug dealers. It is extremely rare for a tourist or average citizen to be shot and/or killed by these thugs. If you don't buy or sell drugs in N.O. you don't have much to worry about. Occasionally innocent neighbors of these fools get killed; but, not very often. Call me a racist if you want. I am just stating the facts from the local newspapers and TV news.
If you're not legally allowed to own a firearm because you're on parole or the weapon has been illegally modified is a good reason to not keep it in the house.
