Thursday is the 9th of Av...maybe that's why they are aiming for it. But the only way a cease fire would be forced down the Israelis' throat is if Bush blinks. And even if he didn't doesn't mean Israel would necessarily agree. And then there'll be ages to negotiate who the troops for the buffer zone will be.
France cannot make it happen. Russia cannot. China cannot. Iran cannot.

This Malcolm guy on Batchelor...was asked how long the Israelis have.
He said that he figures "they" would be pushing for a UN Resolution by the end of the week..and then a few more days or so to get the International force figured out..and then longer to get them there...
He sounded like if they could get 10 days to 2 weeks just by taking all of the time all of the above would take...then Israel "might" be able to do what they feel they can.
I just can't imagine how they are going to come up with a PLAN for an international force, what their "duties" will be...and assemble them, arm them, house them, in less than 10 days...and that doesn't take into consideration how long Bolton could drag out the negotiations on a UN resolution...
Even then....whose to say he would approve it....with Syria, Iran and FRANCE trying to call the shots..with Kofi added in the mix....I am SURE the ideas they come up with are NOT going to be in Israel or the USA's interest.
