Here's to hoping that you could always go back and find it just as you remember it.
Today they've already quoted him saying some rather inflammatory things, both now and earlier in his career. This is the guy that says Iran is a stabilizing force in the Mideast.
thanks for recalling this.
Just on Fox: French FM is attending that meeting with Iran, Syria and Lebanon...
He may just be issuing them an Israeli ultimatem, or offering France's undivided support ;)
July 31, 2006 - Beirut, Lebanon - PipeLineNews.org - Iran's state controlled news entity - Islamic Republic News Agency - is reporting that the French Foreign Minister - Douste-Blazy - has called Iran "crucial to the stability of the Middle East."
In a Monday news conference given in Beirut, Douste-Blazy underlined what appears to be France's support for Hezbollah - "we [France] could never accept a destabilisation of Lebanon," and went on to state "In the region there is of course a country such as Iran - a great country, a great people and a great civilization which is respected and which plays a stabilizing role in the region."
Walid al-Mouallem probably wrote the thing and has Assad sign it over breakfast tea.
BEIRUT, July 31 France and Iran stepped into the diplomatic vacuum in Lebanon today with visits to Beirut by their foreign ministers after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice canceled her trip to the Lebanese capital.
The French foreign minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy, held talks with Prime Minister Fouad Siniora in Beirut today and with other officials, and later spoke of what he said was the important role Iran could play in resolving the crisis.
While the United States has criticized Iran for what it calls its support for Hezbollah, Mr. Douste-Blazy said Iran was an important actor in the Middle East and that the country played a stabilizing role in the region.

He may just be issuing them an Israeli ultimatem, or offering France's undivided support ;)
More likely negotiating France's surrender now to save time & (French) lives later.
"...The Syrian military remains one of the largest and best-trained forces in the Arab World. Despite losing every major conflict since 1948, it has distinguished itself as a highly disciplined and motivated force that has gained the respect of the Israeli military. In particular, the Syrian army is known to have developed the skills necessary to breach the type of defense in depth found on the Golan Heights, obviously a potent factor in any future conflict with Israel..."
Target Rich meeting?
"Iran is a significant, respected player in the Middle East which is playing a stabilising role, French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said on Monday."

General Armchair here:
I keep reading stories like this and I think,...cant they see that the fence is being attacked and call in a turret or two?
I posted some earlier news articles indicating Hezbollah has taken a beating. According to the article Hezbollah is running out of missile launchers due to IAF bombardment. Also, Haifa hadn't been struck in two days.
***Today's Betting Line Question***
Will the Lebanese step up and take their country back or will they remain forever in the loser column?
Whats the current Freeper line on this?

Great news! Go Isreal!
I guess the idea is to thin out and stretch Israeli forces. Add Syria to the game.
Lebanon is infected with a fatal disease: Hezebola.
Haifa has been spared because Israel said if it was attacked again, they would target Beruit's tallest buildings.
