THERE were community meetings in Seattle on Wednesday. Some of the couples who had sued to overturn Washingtons ban on same-sex marriage, a case they lost before the states Supreme Court earlier that day, were going to appear. Gay and straight elected officials who support marriage equality were going to make speeches. I probably should have been there too.
But I had a previous engagement.
The Seattle Mariners were playing the Toronto Blue Jays at Safeco Field. My 8-year-old son adopted at birth by my boyfriend and me loves the Ms almost as much as he hates the way a breaking news story can keep me late at work. He would never have forgiven me for skipping the game.
I didnt feel too bad about missing the meetings. Washingtons high court rejected same-sex marriage for much the same reason the New York Court of Appeals did earlier this month. The speeches in Seattle would no doubt be similar to those made in New York, and I didnt need to hear them again.
Basically, both courts found that marriage is like a box of Trix: Its for kids.

"what kind of girls name is Dan ?"
The kind that's FAB-BUL-OUS!!!
Too precious.
Even for the NYT this is a new standard of sleaziness allowing this aids-infested hatemonger to have this say in their pages. If anybody didn't believe that the NYT is at war with America and American culture, this ought to be proof positive (that, and the constant acts of treason).
It was so nice to sit in Church today and have one of the Prayers be THANKING the Majority on the WA Supreme Court for their actions maintaining marriage as between a MAN and a WOMAN.....
ping to the list
He has a point. Even if homosexual marriage loses in 50 referendums, they'll just keep trying it until they wear the voters down. It happens.
Uh huh, I went to Vegas and kept losing but it felt like I was winning ...
This strategy really helps expose that these queer groups actually look DOWN on heterosexuals like some kind of farm animals who crank out babies and do little else of value. It reminds me of the vampire movies where the vampires refer to humans as cattle or food. The queer lobby not only has a death wise for American, society and the human race as a whole, they also are deeply unhappy people who hate the majority of the population for not being like them and making them seem 'normal.'
I don't believe that most people who are gay do not subscribe to the queer lobby agenda but they have absolutely no voice in the media or the culture since they are mostly trying to live under the radar.
No, Dan. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman. You and your boyfriend are missing one ingredient. Hopefully your son will grow up to understand his "mother and father" pretended to be a natural family based on an unnatural relationship. But after years of indoctrination he probably won't. One thing's for sure...it won't be a surprise to him to find out he was adopted.
But, perhaps the courts were right. Marriage is for kids. You and Brucie--or whatever your boyfriend's name is--were not created without heterosexuality nor were you two able to produce children without the help of heterosexuality yet you and your ilk continue to reject the notion that your behavior is unnatural. Well, it is and pretending to be like the rest of us won't change that. Saavy, freak?!
And here's the same thing in reverse (I think). If they win by losing, and win by winning, something's a little wrong with their reasoning.
I hope everyone here knoww who Dan Savage is. He is a militant homosexual and a sex columnist, whose "advice" column is basically a weekly advertisement for perversity and sexual deviance. His column runs in many independent weeklies in the big cities, including the Village Voice and the Washington City Paper. I cannot believe the New York Times would run anything this purveyor of filth wouold write -- oh no, wait a minute, yes I can.
Dan Savage is the self-described "faggot" (his word, not mine) who, when infected with influenza, joined the 2000 Bauer campaign with the intention of infecting the candidate.
I guess those are bona fides of respectable opinion at the NYT.
Icch...
