Where art thou, O Hoppie? Tell us how wonderful it is in Kosovo. Declare to us, if thou wilt, how wise the poicies of the wicked and corrupt CLinton administration.

I've been saying the same thing for years. The NT recognizes "prophets", but not in the formal sense of one who reveals the hand of God in the affairs of man. NT prophets are those who provide consolation to the oppressed and afflicted. Jesus was a prophet, but far more than a prophet. He warned against those who would come declaring another message. He called them wolves in sheep's clothing. Mad Mo would be among them. He fits the profile of a pseudo-prophet to a tee: greedy, sexually perverse, power hungry, suspicious, vengeful, proud, using his "revelations" to manipulate others. He wanted to screw his adopted son's wife, so Allah conveniently gave him a vision to sanction what had been considered taboo in ancient Arabia. That is what a false prophet does. A real prophet is a servant. Mad Mo came to be served, to pillage, to rape, to plunder, to steal, to dissemble, to con.

Jesus was not a prophet. That would be like the vice president of the corporation moonlighting as a salesman. Prophecy involved using the human mind in a way which is no longer possible and there were several kinds of things which revolved around that antique paradigm, including prophecy, oracles, familiar spirits (like the story of Saul, Samuel, and the witch of Endor), idolatry, and a couple of other things.
Jews claim that at the time of Zechariah, they asked the Lord to lift the curse of idolatry from the world and that he did, but that they lost prophecy at the same time. Basically, whatever it was in the Earth's environment which had enabled all of those things, simply ceased and vanished for all time.
As in the case of Mohammed, likewise in the story of Joseph Smith who claimed to have translated several Egyptian documents using "prophecy stones" and prophetic talents, presumably "on loan from God" as Rush would put it. Those included a couple of the basic books of the LDS church. Several decades later after the Rosetta stone had been deciphered, real scholars went back and examined a couple of those documents and proclaimed Smith a total fraud, noting that he had not gotten a single word of the documents correct.

I've got an idea you might want to consider here... Over the past twenty years or thereabouts, I've seen one American politician who might actually be the perfect fit for whatever the main position in our government for dealing with slammites might be: has anybody ever considered putting Janet Reno in charge of slammite relations? All you'd have to do is give her the trigger to about fifty of the ICBMs and tell her that slammites abuse children (you would not be lying)....
