Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Responds to Washington Times (Simcox)
Human Events ^ | Jul 29, 2006 | Chris Simcox

Posted on 07/29/2006 9:36:41 PM PDT by Anti-Bubba182

Recently, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, Inc. (MCDC), and our fiduciary accountability has been called into question in reports in the Washington Times newspaper. Its editors continue to misrepresent the facts and have purposely based their reports and editorials on information that is inaccurate.

They continue in their attempt to hold us to a different and improperly applied fiduciary standard than any other non-profit in the country. Jerry Seper and Wes Pruden seem not to understand the first, most basic matters of non-profit accounting and regulatory obligation. Further, Pruden absurdly describes Seper’s reporting as “careful, rigorous” when Seper has not spoken to at least two of his three “sources” on this matter in over a year, and he and his editors deliberately failed to disclose in their innuendos regarding “where our money is spent,” that tens of thousands of dollars was spent on full-page issues advocacy advertising in the Washington Times itself.

A year ago, people called us racists and vigilantes. We have overcome those falsehoods with an organizational performance of diligence, responsibility and excellent stewardship of the resources entrusted to us by our supporters and volunteers. Our careful spending and high standards in the field, combined with the generosity and faithfulness of our citizen patriot supporters, have allowed us to grow rapidly and effectively, consistent with our mission. This has been accomplished, in part, by aggressive advertising and outreach to people across the country, putting a spotlight on the state of lawlessness at our wide-open borders which our government continues to tolerate......."[snip]

".... The leadership of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps and its officers continue to have full faith and confidence in American Caging, Inc., who acts as our comptroller, and in our other accountability and legal professionals..........."

In politics, if you give ammo to your opponents they are going to use it.

Some political and media consultants, along with some movements and campaigns, begin to seem so incompetent that one wonders if their actual purpose is counter to their stated one.

Were you one of Cox's 'independent consultants?'

Nah, you just evoke the same reaction in me as when I step in a dog pile. And for the exact same reason.

That's where you're wrong.

That's where you're unconvincing.

Take off your glasses and take in the political reality that Simcox is butting heads with not only those who are soft on border security, but also people like Glenn Spencer. The shots at Simcox aren't just coming from one camp, or from natural allies. Their motives are different by definition.

The lead on this story, and you can't bury it, is that valid questions are being raised about Simcox's fundraising and he is taking heat from all sides. Motives are somewhere below the fold on page 15.

Are you in the newspaper business?

Are you in the newspaper business?

No, but Michelle Malkin is, and, and the Simcox spin isn't persuading her. Malkin is one of the country's better known hawks on border security issues. What are her ulterior motives for asking for answers from the Simcox camp?

OK, let's assume your analysis, just for the sake of argument. Simcox has lost Malkin, the Washington Times, and Spencer. Gilchrist has washed his hands of him. They all "got sucked in" to asking for answers that he has to provide anyway, or whatever. Then there are the natural enemies of Simcox to consider: Rove, McCain, Kennedy, the Wall Street Journal, the Chamber of Commerce, etc.

The heat will only get hotter as the elections near. It all spells doom for the strategy of waiting until the November 15 extension to provide the answers that were first required months ago.

You know, newbie, your posts don't smell like a "newbie"...they smell suspiciously like either a retread or a duplicate account.

So I'm new. Your post doesn't smell like it addressed anything I raised, quite in keeping with Team Simcox methodology.

You know watching these threads is amazing. Whya are people upset is beyond me.

We're upsety because the few freepers who keep beating this issue to death are liberals on illegal immigration to begin with while trying to appear as if they are genuinely concerned with the well-being of the MCDC. It's pure phoniness.

To my knowledge, no one has said they are violating a law.

None of you guys have called Simcox a "criminal" or a "crook"?

I find it odd that certain inviduals are posting on this subject just about every day, often until wee hours of the morning. That does not indicate normal fiduaciary concern, but an odd obsession that goes well beyond what is stated for the reasons for such concern.

Cognitive dissonance does some pretty strange stuff to the mind.
