Well, Oswald had a cheap bolt action rifle so it's tough to compare.
A Italian Carcano carbine with a scope. If he couldn't hit the target with the bullet, the flame out of the barrel would. It amazes me how he could have pulled it off with a rifle that could have been bought from a Woolworth for about $20 - $25 at the time. Then again, the rifle was in new condition, it was never fired in a war, only dropped twice.
Pretty easy to do. Remember he did miss on the first shot. The second shot was at 44 yards away and the last was at 80 yards away. The first shot started the eight second countdown.
Inexpensive doesn't always mean cheap. I wish I had a lot of those Civil War rifles my friends found in the bargain barrels back in the 1950's.
I think I need some more WWI and WWII rifles and pistols in the accumulation. I have to find a good Moisant-Nagant.
