Why are you going through and responding to posts that are 3-4 hours old? Everyone knows that there's been later news-- we saw his statement and commented on that thread.
Frankly I dont understand why folks want to deny, what seems to be the truth of what happened...he was speeding, he got caught, he was drunk, and he was also very mouthy, and said things he should not have said...
I dont see some great big old conspiracy here, to discredit him...he, himself has apologized, has admitted to having been driving under the influence, and has admitted to having said things he should not have said...even he is not somehow claiming that there is some sort of a conspiracy...
He is doing the right thing, by admitting all that he did and said was wrong, and he has apologized...
There are no black helicopters overhead, and there is no conspiracy...
I am greatly disappointed when anyone acts like this, its just horrid behavior...I dont really have any strong feelings about Mel Gibson one way or the other...I have admired his films, and have enjoyed them...I neither idolize him, nor do I detest him...
But Mel Gibson is a man, is a human, prone to error...as are we all...he will be made to answer for this, and hopefully he will learn from it...

Well...I am just about as RIGHT-wing as they come, and I believe it because I heard him slamming GW long and hard numerous times for no real reason, unless by him slamming GW, he thought he could have it both ways!
IMO...he made a point of doing it for his own personal gain so he could 'sell' his movie to the Christians and yet still be an in-crowd hollywood liberal!

MALIBU, Calif. - Mel Gibson issued a lengthy statement Saturday apologizing for saying “despicable” things to sheriff's deputies when he was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.
“I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable,” the actor-director said without elaborating.
The entertainment Web site TMZ posted what it said were four pages from the original arrest report, which quoted Gibson as launching an expletive-laden “barrage of anti-Semitic remarks” after he was stopped early Friday on Pacific Coast Highway.

In his statement, Gibson apologized for what he called “my belligerent behavior” when he was taken into custody.
“The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person,” he said.
“I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse.”
He said he was taking “necessary steps to ensure my return to health.”
Gibson, 50, was arrested after deputies stopped his 2006 Lexus LS 430 for speeding at 2:36 a.m. Friday. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said deputies clocked him doing 87 mph in a 45 mph zone.
He has lost my respect. I don't care how much he apologizes.
