Someone please tell me what they see wrong with this news ticker. I see a bunch of reports regarding rocket fire after 2 weeks into the conflict, then I see the IDF declare its operations in Bent Jbail are over. So what does that mean - is the war over?

This morning I woke up and realized that Israel is pursuing a very limited objective. Stop the missiles. That is all. They cannot stop Hezebola as a political force within Lebanon. That would require complete deconstruction of Lebanon.

If the Israeli objective is to stop the missiles they are failing miserably. What is the strategy - let Hizbullah fire their entire arsenal off then they will have none left - mission accomplished. Rocket fire could be very easily stemmed if Israel had just invaded and controlled southern lebanon. The IAF and IDF arty just take too long to respond, these guys shoot and scoot. A ton of boots on the ground would a) refocus Hizbullah's attention b) allow the IDF to cordon and seal off launch areas.

The only problem with that is they are not stopping the rockets.I also think that Rice is going to put a lot of pressure on Israel to have a cease fire.
