More later, but pretty busy today. Will look in now and then on this thread.
UN official fears Israel will raze Tyre
jhp: More comments on Israel's strategy here: http://shrinkwrapped.blogs.com/blog/2006/07/further_thought.html
jeffers - It may still come to that - but I think the tripwire is Tel Aviv. A rocket into Tel Aviv and Israel will finally slip the shackels of trying to appease the International Community and do what is best for her, come what may.
Allegra:
So far today I haven't heard any news from Iraq - and acting on the premise that no news is good news - I hope everything is calm. Take care.
that guy on the shrikwrapped blog is spewing the same tripe i've heard for the past few days trying to defend the indefensible. Cut off command and control (which i agree has been happening), try to kill as many Hizbullah as possible and let the IAF worry about the rocket launchers.
this guy thinks (as do other Olmert sympathizers) that this is some brilliantly concocted strategy to draw all the Hizbullah out of their hideyholes in southern lebanon for a big fight at Bent Jbail where enough Hizbullah will be killed so the international force and lebanese army can later come in and retake southern lebanon. Me thinks not. Hizbullah is sitting in Trye and the countless other villages in southern lebanon south of the litani waiting for an IDF that may not come. Taking the city of Bent Jbail and totally controlling it will not solve the problem. I have seen no evidence to suggest Hizbullah is coming out of thier holes in other locations outside of Bent Jbail to fight.
It's been quiet the last couple of days.
There are still things to be reckoned with there and they will be reckoned with. I believe we're only experiencing a lull. We've had plenty of them before.
I still firmly believe that when all is said and done, the good guys will be victorious.
