Not at all. Mel's movies stand or fall on their own merits. Many great filmmakers have been horrible people with abhorrent views about many things. Even if Mel falls into that category (and I'm not saying that he does), it doesn't "taint" what he's already done.

The movie is what it is. What I am saying now is that those who defended him AND the movie against charges of Jew-hatred will have a tougher time now when that can of worms is re-opened.

Birth of a Nation was great cinema, but a bigoted piece nonetheless.
