Actually, the only union goons are the guys flying the airplanes. Enough said on that topic. No point in speculating on this accident, but the MD-10 isn't the easiest airplane in the fleet to land. It is an old DC-10 with a new cockpit. Kind of like taking a Chrysler K car and putting a new Mercedes interior in it and calling it a Mercedes.
I'm just glad it sounds like the crew is ok. And of course the packages too. ; )
