Bush & Blair news conference 12:30ET
Sorry but in case you missed it, the REALITY of modern war includes media management. The enemy is very much the NY Times et al.
Blair: This action was just aimed at Israel. It was aimed at Lebanon and proving they can't control their own affairs.
Blair: This action was NOT just aimed at Israel.
The tragedy would be how Hezbollah is shredding Lebanon in the process. Why is that so hard to fathom?
"You think that...and I think that...but does Blair?"
Yes he does. He has said so many, many times.
Blair is much more eloquent than Bush, but the message is the same. I think they are both right. This could be an opportunity if managed correctly and not return to the status quo ante.
Tony tell it like it is, will ya. Hezbollah has a two-fer land grab here: Lebanon and Israel. The march of the imperialist islamofascists continues.
Pigs are flying by my window in droves. I just called my Dad, he's watching this and he is THRILLED with W.
?: Re multinational force, who should lead it and be part of it and does Hezbollah have to agree to it before it's set up.
President: That's what the meeting Monday will be about (international troops).
But the first 16 don't count....
Go Dad Go!!
I can see that Blair didn't get the President to change his position. Thankfully.
Who was that reporter asking why Blair and Bush are supporting Israel ??
The British one my dad cursed out? LOL Blair has his press core come with him so maybe it was someone from the BBC or Guardian, sure sounded like it.
And don't forget the multi-national force.
Send in the clowns....
"Who cares about warm and fuzzy. We are fighting the battle of our lives against a bunch of religious FREAKS that want us all dead.
Forget warm and fuzzy and let's talk REALITY."
The reality is that wars are fought as much with words as with bullets. Its not just a question of winning on the ground, you have to win in the headlines too.
As Blair eloquently put it, "Winning wars is not easier this way, but winning the peace is...and we have to win both".
I wish they'd said more about Iran's distraction from their nuclear ambitions.
President Bush keeps saying that there has to be a "permanent" change..and just calling a cease fire won't do that...
I think he is letting Blair "shade" it...but, he is still insisting on Hezbollah being gone from Lebanon...and if so...don't look for Israel to be told to stop anytime soon.
A lot of behind the scenes diplomacy going on here. I hope that we remain steadfast on a few core issues. We can't return to the status quo. The international force must be armed and not just be observers.
None of us like it but he HAS to do that.
