'Disproportionate' in What Moral Universe?
The Washington Times ^ | July 28, 2006 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 07/28/2006 7:03:24 AM PDT by John Carey

What other country, when attacked in an unprovoked aggression across a recognized international frontier, is then put on a countdown clock by the world, given a limited time window in which to fight back, regardless of whether it has restored its own security?

What other country sustains 1,500 indiscriminate rocket attacks into its cities -- every one designed to kill, maim and terrorize civilians -- and is then vilified by the world when it tries to destroy the enemy's infrastructure.... http://peace-and-freedom.blogspot.com/

That's what amazes me. If there were no rocket attacks at all and the only outrage was the kidnapping of the soldiers, Israel would still be more than justified in doing what it's doing.

Add in the rockets and Israel is justified in doing pretty much anything it wants to do in southern Lebanon.

Let's talk Hezbollah ethics a sec...and I am sorry if I have said some of this before....

Hezbollah believes in some simple and obvious (to them) "truths."

First, since the leaders of Hezbollah view Israel as an illegal government that took land away from the people of Palestine and have no right to live in the Middle East: any form of terrorism is appropriate for these "illegitimates." It is as if the Hezbollah denies that the Jews are people. This is a common way evil doers talk themselves into ugly acts. Seems Hitler was good at this.... (Note the President of Iran says the Holocaust never happened: it is a "myth.)

And Second, as Hezbollah views itself as in a "Holy War," any means of winning is acceptable. Hiding behind civilians is a necessary evil in the long, historic and centuries old struggle to achieve justice for Islam.

So how do you change minds that decide to adopt positions like that? You don't; which is what Israel concluded a long time ago....

Also for discussion, the official U.S. position in Iraq is that no timetable for troop withdrawal will be made, because the oppostion will merely wait out the time, using the lull to re-arm and strengthen.

SO WHY ARE OUR DIPLOMATICS SO EAGER TO SET A TIMETABLE FOR ISRAEL? WHAT IS THE ^&*&**($#%^ DIFFERENCE?

I have grown increasingly angry listening to the US MSM, the EU, other Arab "nations", academics, and other anti-US and anti-Israel commentary on this issue. The so-called "warriors" of HezbAllah are the same as any other muslim terrorists - cowardly sissies who hide behind the skirts (or should I say, the burkhas) of women and among children. They are like any other yapping muslim group. I grow increasingly angry with the Lions of Islam - Zawahiri and bin Laden, calling on other muslim saps to go forth in a "holy war" whilst they are safely hidden aong the women and children.

I desperately hope Israel takes off her gloves in Lebanon and eradicates the Iranian proxy there. Then it is my hope that they - and the US, too - take the air war to Iran and Syria, set them back 25 years or more, which I estimate would place them in 775 AD. I fear if we do not take this to the limit now, we will pay an exorbitant price in the near future. It is past time to take this "war on terror" to its conclusion by excising the source - militant islam in Iran.

If "Israel concluded a long time ago," why'd they allow these monsters to move next door?

Well, Israel could always do what we did in the face of terrorst attacks, which is to say, nothing. It's worked very well for us, hasn't it?

I have a liberal friend who thinks that way, he thinks any response to threats and terror is a mistake, he thinks we should negotiate. Negotiate for what, I'm not sure.

Didn't the US respond "disproportionately" after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor?

If Israel with a population of only six million should respond proportionally to the one billion muslims aligned against them, they should be killing at least 150 muslim civilians for every Israeli civilian who has been killed. Furthermore since muslims are having three times as many children as the Israelis, they should be killing at least 450 muslim children for every Israeli child who has been killed.
