The first thing a Minuteman has to learn is to keep his powder dry. The bigger the powder magazine, the bigger the risk of getting it all wet.
This is the lesson that Chris Simcox, the president of the volunteers on the border, who have almost single-handedly aroused the nation's conscience about the tide of illegal immigration, seems to have missed in basic training.
The "powder" is the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Americans have contributed to the Minutemen, who have been exceedingly helpful to the U.S. Border Patrol. The careful, rigorous reporting of Jerry Seper in The Washington Times reveals that the Minutemen management has not made its records of fundraising and finances public in more than a year, raising the hackles and suspicions of several top Simcox aides. Some of them have resigned, protesting the loose management of the money...."[snip]
"... All the more reason that Chris Simcox and his lieutenants must account for the money and explain what the Declaration Alliance, the grandly named political public-relations firm in Herndon, has done with the money it has collected and disbursed in the name of the Minutemen. The Declaration Alliance is the creation of Alan Keyes, the smooth-talking conservative activist and sometime pol, and is meant to provide mass mailings, public relations and "a fully accredited and independent audit." So far no one in the Minutemen management has said how much has been paid to the Declaration Alliance, and what the Minutemen got for the money...."

You aren't supposed to notice that.
Are you referring to me?
If this claim is referring to me, then I will call you sir a damn liar. You don't know squat about me, you're one of the crew throwing charges at anyone who dare criticize Chris Simcox or his prophet Alan Keyes (or maybe that's the other way around).
Cut out the damn lies.
If you are referring to me, you are now twice the liar you were above.
They are upset because someone gave 120K to Simcox instead of a competing organization.
Is this meant to refer to me? If so, you have lied again.
Are you paid by the lie?
Why doesn't Simcox just put up the MMDC's financial paperwork on the internet? If he's got his jots and tittles straight, wouldn't that end the efforts against him?
i.e., if you dare criticize Simcox, Keyes, et.al., you will be told you must be a member of LaRaza and/or other liberal organizations, and you certainly aren't a real conservative.
They are upset because someone gave 120K to Simcox instead of a competing organization. They repeat the same sorry discredited and unsubstantiated attacts on a volunteer organization, yet turn a blind eye to federal policy because they are affiliated closely with the party currently in power.
Any criticism of Simcox is "discredited and unsubstantiated". However, even if it were true, it wouldn't matter because the federal government is worse.
In other words, whether or not Simcox is a crook is irrelevant because the government isn't doing its job.
You can't be a conservative according to this gang.
Of course, all TRUE conservatives believe in Keyes and Simcox.
Dont attempt to think outside the box, have a contrarian opinion, support other than "party approved" thoughts groups ideology on the immigration topic or you will be branded racist and any adverb they can think of at the moment.
You must approve of Keyes and Simcox, or you are a liberal, and OBLer, a closet member of LaRaza, and an anti-FReeper.
They have a pretty baseless foundation to attack from, but can rehash the same arguments for months on end.
Don't wait for any facts, but insults abound.
Too bad they are losing in the court of public opinion and reality.
More and more conservative columnists are calling for openness from the MCDC, but don't expect this small group of FReepers to do so....expect them to insult those who stand for responsibility and openness.
Chances are if the fund-raising through DA has been going on for less than 18 months, you won't see anything on a 990.
Well, okay, not quite true...let me put it this way. Anything collected for their current tax year has yet to be reported, but anything collected in the previous tax year will be there.
I have seen the posts; may not have been you specifically. But there are many snide remarks about posters being in the minority, not conservative, not representative of Free Republic or conservatives. In general.
"Nobody's trying to take down anybody."
I beg to differ if you read the threads.
Horsefeathers amelia. You are one of the persons I was speaking of.
Are you holding the Federal Govenment to the same standard?
How much is being spent on personell, equipment and training on the NG deployment to the border?
How many NG personnel are actually on the border?
Are you asking for the same openness of the Feds that you are asking of volunteers?
Do you think there will be 6000 NG folks on the border by next tuesday?
4500. Next question?
Where is your call for a GAO audit of the NG Deployment?
I hear crickets.
How many were promised on the border by next tuesday?
How much is being spent?
Where are the reports? Why arent they public. The mission is being paid for with tax money.
6000 and on track. Get a new talking point.
How long are we going to have to wait for disclosure of the GAO audit?
