The best idea for a Science Fiction novel is not horror nor social commentary,
but a good detective story like one written by Chrighton or Arthur Conan Doyle or Edgar Allan Poe

Use the Scientific Method to solve a mystery !

I just happen to come across an OTR adaptation last night of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

How would you classify it? It's a horror story using science fiction to deliver a social commentary, isn't it?

Or is it a social commentary using fictional science...?

That would work well for someone who likes mystery. Unfortunately, I don't. My ideas center around political and military sf and one of my ideas experiments with science fantasy a bit.
