Just a thought but isn't a large portion of our current MOUT doctrine lifted from IDF experience? It seems that I remember a top down approach being SOP in this type of terrain. I do realize though that sometimes you just got to move, but the approach described in the article does seem a bit odd.

Part of the strategic calculation of MOUT goes out the window when the urban point is, itself, the target. The doctrine of by-pass in MOUT becomes moot.
