Dump Condi: Bush Allies in revolt over Mideast policy
Insight on the News (via Drudge) ^ | July 25, 2006 | Insight on the News

Conservative national security allies of President Bush are in revolt against Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, saying that she is incompetent and has reversed the administration’s national security and foreign policy agenda.

The conservatives, who include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle and leading current and former members of the Pentagon and National Security Council, have urged the president to transfer Miss Rice out of the State Department and to an advisory role. They said Miss Rice, stemming from her lack of understanding of the Middle East, has misled the president on Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

I would think so. I know she has a mind of her own contrary to what the liberals say BUT she can't go over there and make her own policy. I think the criticisms stem from frustrations about Bush and some conservatives feel guilty about criticising him. While I'd like him and his whole administration to be stronger and be more forceful, this is an area of 'diplomacy' and I'm not privy to any of his personal info.

he went over to accomplish exactly what the administration wanted her to -- nothing! It was all smoke and mirrors and she pulled it off beautifully.

Thank You! I listened to an impassioned Glenn Beck rant this morning that Condi Failed! No immediate cease fire, AND there was a picture of her "with her head in her hands" on the front page of the NY Slimes. I hope he's spent the day becoming informed and does a more accurate rant tomorrow.

Well, unless this all flares up again today, you got the last word (or, given the nature of this thread, the last shot). Cheers!

Did you see the picture of Ms. Rice playing the piano at the ASEAN Concert on Drudge today?

Let me try to decipher this so you no longer think I am in need of a tutorial on politics.

I fully understand Lugar and Hagel support Rice and her job is to talk with the Foreign Relations Committee no matter who is in charge of it.

I hope I passed the test, so we can move past you trying to teach me something, I already know and fully understand.

My point and only point is this: The article is basically a slam on Condi. In DC and especially the inner circle of power is relatively a small group of people who made momentous decisions. If Condi is listening to JUST people like Lugar and Hagel for advice and ignoring other people like Cheney, Bolton, Gringrich, we are in trouble.

As I side note, I certainly would hope Condi would give Dennis Kucinich her full and complete attention as head of Foreign Relations Committee and do exactly the complete opposite of his advice.

I am sorry. My comment DID sound condescending, didn't it?

What I think is that she talks to those people, but is her own person.

I have noticed a concerted effort suddenly to trash her. I find it interesting that all of a sudden, after 2 years, we are suddenly reading all of these posts about how she is a "lightweight" and that she is responsible for all sorts of supposed disasters. Perle and Gingrich are dubious sources IMHO.

I share your opinion of Lugar, but I have seen no sign that he has any real influence on her thinking. Of course, I could be wrong, but I do think that this article is more about worrying that she might be a competitor in 2008 than anything that she has actually done wrong.

Freaky picture. BTW, looks like I was wrong about you getting the last word!

in recent months, she has just seemed like a bumbler on the world stage, particularly with Iran and North Korea.

I don't see that she has stumbled, let alone badly. She's stepped into a den of vipers and seems to be doing about as competent job as anyone could in minimizing harm to US interests.

When I think "incompetent" I think of Madeleine Albright who left the Bush administration a perfect storm to contend with and is the toast of the enemies of America for that very reason.

However, I would be willing to consider substantive criticisms based on actual evidence. In that sense I'm unlike some posters who apparently believe Rice must necessarily have the wisdom of Solomon and effectiveness of Benjamin Franklin because George Bush picked her, or that she MUST be the most effective Secretary of State in the history of the United States because she's a female and black (any anyone who disagrees is a racist and misogynist).

I haven't seen any substantive evidence that Rice is incompetent. Newt Gingrich's personal opinion is not evidence.

I AM RESISTING THE URGE TO MAKE MY COMMENTS IN A GIANT FONT.

Mattie Halfwit, she who drank wine with the murderer Kim Jong Mentally-Ill--AND her boss, the Sink-Stainer who invited the terrorist Yasser Arafat to the White House more than anyone else--AND her boss's WIFE who KISSED THE TERRORIST ARAFAT'S WIFE are the ones who are incompetent.

They couldn't clean Condoleeza's shoes.

I don't give a crap what kind of ruckus the moonbat leftists try to rile up against this administration...they are doing THE RIGHT THING in the middle east.

Appeasing terrorists never has worked and never will. Only eliminating them will work.

Condi just went over to the middle East and pulled more of the land for peace garbage. That's insane.

Baloney.

Thank you. Good post.

I have read this article (twice) and it so obviously a smear by implication that its motives are suspect to begin with.

It reminds me of the people who don't trust the President because he said (vaguely) nice things about President Clinton in public. The basic attitude appears to be that if you are not a stone-cold-inflexible-rude-nasty-in-your-face-don't-talk-to-anyone-not-100%-on-my-sider then you are not to be trusted and have only been given that position because (take your pick) Bush is an idiot, Condi is a pretty airhead who got the job because she is black, we don't have the courage to kill every Muslim in the world.

It's frankly, delusional at best, and frighteningly insane at worst. The funniest part to me is that they have the gall to suggest that anyone who does not agree with that type of foreign policy is not a "grown up."
