I also don't consider smoking a disease (I smoked for more than 20 years). But for some it's also more than a choice; it's a habit or an addiction.

I think it's the chemicals the tobacco companies lace them with which is the harder part of the habit to kick
Not sure if you have ever been a smoker but psychological addiction is just as strong as the physical. Thus the high failure rate of people (myself included) who have tried the nicotine patches and the other junk.
Argue all you want but there are people who just plain enjoy smoking just as there are people who enjoy anchovies...........
