I think they are scared based on private GOP polling, and they are trying to scare the angry base that is threatening to stay away. It's a game of chicken they play. "Sure we suck, but will you really be happy with Dems in our place?"

It's political smartness to say you are going to lose seats, then if you do, you defuse the MSM who will jump on this...then if you do NOT lose seats, or lose FEWER than you predicted you can say that you actually did better than expected.

Absolutely it will make a huge difference ... you want the liberal leftist democrats controlling the courts and what our military may or may not be allowed to do? Do you want the democrat leftist diverting our defense budget to all social programs and our military into UN workers? Do you want ... oh never mind, you're probably a libertarian or a democrat and only care about trashing the country to allow your indulgences. Do I want the pubbies to stop spending us into oblivion? IMO it will make things even worse because right now the President is doing a lot more the Dems favor than a lot of Conservative Republicans favor, ergo he will have an easier time getting a lot of his bills passed and will veto those he doesn't approve.

Normally, I would say not that much. But we really need the President to be able to focus on foreign affairs and not have to spend his time fending off the likes of Pelosi and Reid.

No matter what any of us think about the President's domestic policies, impeachment rumblings would be an absolute blow to our ability to fight the WOT. If you don't think they would do it, you aren't paying enough attention. Winning would embolden them like nobody's business and since their agenda is simply that "we have to stop him, what more do you need" we have to keep that in mind.
