True, but if government succeeds in stripping away the Church's tax exempt status it will affect the Church's ability to feed, house and care for the poor, and the government WILL take up the slack with more welfare benefits to more poor, that's a given.

Actually when the FairTax is passed church/charity donations should increase considerably since not only will any donation be from tax free money, but the taxpayer will have greater purchasing power to start with. So there won't be any need at all for the government to spend heedlessly of our tax money for that - nor should we, as voters, allow them to do that.

It's time voters paid attention to how much influence they can have with Congress. It can be considerable, but not if we all sit on our hands and say "oh, that'll never happen" or "we can't do that". You just don't realize how powerful motivated voters can be.
