We live along upper yukon; eastern interior. Have more than our share of bear. Now they're not super sized, but they all look quite big to me up close. If you ever had even a blk bear crawl in on you like a cat with it's ears twittlin back and forth; you'd have a sense of respect for even the small ones. Heck I even had neighbor shoot a grizz (3 times with 06) tearing up his fish racks and then have to trail it into woods to finish it off. It was chomping 5 inch trees into and hollaring the entire time as my buddy expected to the bear to jump him before he killed it.

I use to carry 44 & 480 mags for bear protection, not no more. I got a S&W 460 mag and it's 3X the gun any 44 mag. 460 burns right thru 1/4 steel plate, 480 just dents it in.
