Sometimes it's hard to tell who is worse in Malaysia... PAS, or UMNO. Both use islam and fear to hold onto power.
As for the country as a whole, they have been heading down the path to Arabization ever since independence and the koranimal courts answer to no one. I wouldn't be surprised to see them all replace their traditional songkok (the headgear that is used by more pious muslim males there) with turbans in the not too distant future. The shiite minority there already wear them.
So much for islam hidari.
