Miles driven and shots fired are not comparable. Neither is the deaths/day you're claiming. You need to account for criminal action and police action. You also need to separate out accidental shootings. You've done none of that. try reading More Guns, Less Crime for a valid statistical treatment and analysis of the situaiton.

Stop the crap postings, a criminal is not deterred by any law that bans them from getting guns of any type. Look at the number of felons that get busted for being in possession of a firearm. Did they go to the local store and buy it? No.

Perhaps you could enlighten me on something.
1.) When was the last time a machinegun was used in the commission of a crime in the USA? Is this a common occurance?
2) Do you think the frequency of machinegun use by the criminal element will remain as it is today, or will it increase if machineguns are made available to the general public?

1) 2004 & not that I have heard of. In fact I didn't know about the 2004 incident until I was looking for something else, which is suprising that the MSM wasn't all over it.

2) I think they would stay the same, if not drop. The reason I feel that way is look at DC, banning of handguns doesn't stop the criminals from getting them and crime goes up. Then look at cities that allow concealed carry (not exactly the same but same affect), crime has dropped. If the average citizen is allowed to buy them like a regular rifle then criminals would be less likely to commit a crime because they will think that the people may have some serious firepower.

I'm a member of the NRA and own many guns myself. I'd prefer that fully automatic rifles be highly restricted in this country.

Do you know what the original intent of the 2nd Amendment is?
