Thank you for posting this important read, SJackson. I hadn't even thought to look to see if it was already posted and just assumed it was.

This is a shocking indictment of the UN.

Since the article mentions Kofi's impotence (and worse) in dealing with genocide of Rwandans, I thought I'd mention a book I read.

The book is called Left to Tell and is a true story about the ethnic cleaning in Rwanda.

It's one of the most inspiring books I've ever read and one will never view the UN the same way after reading the book. The same with the movie Hotel Rwanda.

I could see this coming, yesterday there were reports of Hizbollah troops moving next to UN observation posts. Then, not surprisingly, reports that Israel was attacking the enemy positions, then, naturally, of damage to the UN posts. Annan complaining about this, of course.

If you are going to let combatants use your territory for grouping, staging, and observation you had better expect shells, not sharply worded memos.

The UN is aligned with Israel's enemies, and should be treated as such.
