I'm shocked too. As much money as psychologists lose to AA You'd think that they'd be more generous in their opinion.

AA didn't fix my psychological problems. It didn't fix all my spiritual problems either. It saved my ass, not my soul. But it's the only thing that has reliably and consistently worked for me when I've gotten off my but, put the plug in the jug, taken the cotton out of my ears and put it in my mouth, and accepted that it was where I needed to be. I don't like it. It just works.

It is my understanding that most shrinks won't touch an alcoholic as a patient until they are sober AT LEAST one, preferrably two years.

In fact, AA was recommended as the BEST therapy for the newly recovering.
