Pyongyang's Missile Tests "Completely Safe"
July 24, 2006 9:00 p.m. EST
Komfie Manalo - All Headline News Foreign Correspondent Seoul, South Korea (AHN) - The North Korean communist regime said Monday that the several missile tests it launched over the Sea of Japan were "completely safe" in a futile attempt at pacifying international indignation for the act.
A statement by a South Korean government said they made sure ships and aircraft were not in the area before they conducted the launch.
The South Korean state media KCNA news agency reported, "The DPRK (North Korea) launched missiles only after airspace, land and waters of the sea had been confirmed to be completely safe. Their launches, therefore, hurt neither ships nor civilian planes, nor anyone."
Pyongyang caused an international uproar early this month when it ignored warnings not to conduct the missile tests. An official from Seoul said their rival north gave notice to ships to stay out of waters east of the Korean peninsula a few days before the launch.
Because of the launch, the UN Security Council passed a resolution condemning the missile test and called on member-countries not to engage North Korean in any missile-related deals.
The report adds that the North did not gave prior notice of a launch to the outside world because "that could have created a grave situation in the region," and that the United States and Japan might have shut down the missiles.
KCNA adds, "The United States, now technically still at war with the DPRK, had been kicking up a war atmosphere for a month in collusion with Japan, threatening to intercept any missile to be launched."
Ping!
Right. The vast DPRK navy and air force made sure the path was clear and told us after the fact that it was, indeed, clear.
A$$hole$! How about telling people beforehand where you think your crummy missiles might go so they can make sure for themselves they are out of the way. That's like dynamiting your garage and then, afterward, telling your neighbors it was safe since no one was hurt.
