As supporters of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, we were disheartened to read Jerry Seper's front-page article Thursday about questions and criticisms of President Chris Simcox's management of the organization. According to the article, the volunteer group has not made any financial statements or fundraising records public since April 2005 -- circumstances that have strained relations between Mr. Simcox and several of his top employees, some of whom have resigned in protest.
Mr. Simcox must resolve these problems quickly. Failure to do so would only encourage the organization's critics -- who have made no secret of their desire to see the Minuteman volunteers arrested for vigilantism. But more importantly, according to Mr. Simcox's estimate, Americans have donated $1.6 million to the corps because they believe in their mission to secure the southern border. In return, the least they should expect is transparency and the assurance that their donations went to help the volunteers in the field. But the truth is that no one except Mr. Simcox knows how much money has been donated and what it has been used for.
So far, Mr. Simcox has been unable to come up with a good explanation -- at least one that can be independently verified. And while he insists the money went to help field operations, workers at these locations tell a different story. For instance, Vern Kilburn, who resigned earlier this year as director of operations for the organization's northern Texas sector, told The Washington Times that only two checks for $1,000 came from Minuteman headquarters in October and that other directors across the country "are having similar problems." Some volunteers said that money promised by Mr. Simcox for food and supplies never arrived. "An awful lot of equipment I saw was donated," said Mike Gaddy,...."

IIRC, Simcox said he doesn't receive a salary from MCDC. I've wondered if perhaps he might recieve one from the Declaration Alliance or one of the other associated companies.
JMHO, of course, but I think there's less hypocrisy when average folks complain about donations being spent on consultants rather than on doing something,
than when consultants who don't seem to accomplish much whine about the average folks who expect to see results.
Self-delusion is a kind of disease. Get help.
Check out this thread,

And finally, here.
Do y'all see what I see?
Carry me BACK to West Virginny.
Nice dodge.
Slimey though.
From that thread:
Just for the sake of fairness, he did say this:
But nowhere on that thread do I see ANYBODY copping to the fact that they're WORKING for this guy.
Where did we hear of this MOrris group before?
Good 'cerpt from Nick Danger: I agree with him.
If I'm piecing this together, and I think I am, someone likes to post in a paid capacity without disclaiming that relationship.
Another candidate with NO CHANCE WHATEVER with EV as consultant or whatever. Beyond getting campaign contributions, what is the point?
LOL...just had a thought: As much as it's clear that Cox is a total longshot, I'd support him before I'd support any of half a dozen others being pushed forward by the political and media establishment hacks.
Before:
Giuliani
McCain
Rice
Allen
Romney
No doubt about it.
I won't support any of those, period.
Not even in a General Election...
Ya think? :-)
Thanks for the dots. How pathetically sad.
Why, to give a voice to True ConservativesTM of course!
And to get contributions and make money for The Usual SuspectsTM.
:-)
Simcox has made no official reports about money collected and spent since May of 2005. when he first started raising money for the Israeli Fence
Simcox claims that he has applied for a 501c3 non-profit status for MCDC but that is being held up by red tape so he is using the Keys organization as an umbrella under which to operate until his is approved.
Simcox's first organization the Civil Homeland Defense Corp. was dissolved in 2005 for failure to file annual reports by the State of Arizona
Simcox has built, according to him in his speech before the Young Republicans June 19th 2006 that he had built 10 miles of his Israeli Fence at a cost of $300,000 dollars per mile. However what he has built to date is 2.2 miles of 5-wire cattle fence at a cost of approx. $15,0000.
Simcox has refused to answer charges with verifiable documentation from former Minutemen that resigned in protest over his handling of donations. Instead he said he fired them due to their racist backgrounds. He fails to say how they gained management positions without knowing of those backgrounds
Simcox has responded to all media inquires including an article and an editorial from the Washington Times with promises to show them documentation and then ignoring the promise.
When contradictions are pointed out about comments attributed to him in the media he counters that he was either misquoted, quoted out of context or the quote was made up. However, he never produces information to back those claims up.
Simcox now claims that he will start construction of the Isreali Fence on a 1 mile stretch of private property in August. However, the MCDC website acknowledges that it will not be the Israeli Fence depicted on their fund raising page
. Facts to date from those that support Simcox
2 "Answer my Critics press releases from MCDC that have NO answers to his critics.
Both sides are welcome to add facts as they desire.
To: Rex AndersonMy opinions are my own, and I have never been asked to post on message boards to advance an agenda, much less been finacially compensated for it. Can you say the same?Of course. And you and your friends' recurring claim that I have is just one more example of your pack's basic dishonesty.

Basic dishonesty, eh?
EV, it seems to me that you have a really bad habit of accusing other people of being and doing what you are.
There has not been ONE WHIFF of proof that Chris Simcox is a conservative.
One could just as easily say "Here we go again with some shyster using good conservatives to line his pockets for all the world to see."
I don't consider Simcox one of my own. His record with his kids makes me sick. He is as conservative as Elmer Gantry.
