Questionable books (Minuteman-Simcox)
The Washington Times ^ | July 25, 2006 | Staff

As supporters of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, we were disheartened to read Jerry Seper's front-page article Thursday about questions and criticisms of President Chris Simcox's management of the organization. According to the article, the volunteer group has not made any financial statements or fundraising records public since April 2005 -- circumstances that have strained relations between Mr. Simcox and several of his top employees, some of whom have resigned in protest.

Mr. Simcox must resolve these problems quickly. Failure to do so would only encourage the organization's critics -- who have made no secret of their desire to see the Minuteman volunteers arrested for vigilantism. But more importantly, according to Mr. Simcox's estimate, Americans have donated $1.6 million to the corps because they believe in their mission to secure the southern border. In return, the least they should expect is transparency and the assurance that their donations went to help the volunteers in the field. But the truth is that no one except Mr. Simcox knows how much money has been donated and what it has been used for.

So far, Mr. Simcox has been unable to come up with a good explanation -- at least one that can be independently verified. And while he insists the money went to help field operations, workers at these locations tell a different story. For instance, Vern Kilburn, who resigned earlier this year as director of operations for the organization's northern Texas sector, told The Washington Times that only two checks for $1,000 came from Minuteman headquarters in October and that other directors across the country "are having similar problems." Some volunteers said that money promised by Mr. Simcox for food and supplies never arrived. "An awful lot of equipment I saw was donated," said Mike Gaddy,...."

Jeff, no problem.

You can parade your homosexual fetish all you want on a thread that has nothing to do with the homosexual agenda.

But(or should I write "Butt"), you decide to bring homosexuality into this, kinda of like the democrats who are saying children are starving in America(while obesity is rampant).

IOW, try to change the subject at all costs, even if that cost means looking like a fool.

In my opinion, Simcox was probably CONvinced that if a more professional approach to fundraising and marketing was performed by the Keyes PR wing he could grow in $ize and he could $pend more time on this cause. There are many familiar faces involved in this including William Greene from Rightmarch that seems to jump from one hot button conservative issue to another, while providing little substantive action.

There are some serious questions, financial and otherwise, regarding Simcox, the MCDC and being accountable to people that believe in what he says he wants to do. Why not join us in trying find out where the money is going and how it has been spent? You have said you are not being paid by either party (the MCDC or Declaration). This is supposedly a conservative outfit, and many people believe in their cause. This is one of the hottest issues of today. I see flags posted on the border fence being sold at 10 bucks a whack, fence post dedications for more money, etc, etc. Has this just turned into moneymaking machine? You know, there is Corruption amongst conservatives too don't you? As conservatives we are held to a much higher moral and ethical standard by the media and the left so we need to make sure our house is in perfect order as much as possible. If you know anything about the unanswered questions saddle up.

Yes, she sure does.

Who is she?

She's a long ago banned FREEPER, who once was in FR's "inner circle", but stabbed Jim in the back and tried to take over FR.

Anything that she is connected to, usually become suspect.

And the same three or four people coming onto the threads, which are newsworthy, trying to smear the others on it and cloud the topic through personal attacks, smears, hyperbole, lies, and spam.

But there are far more than "ten" who read and post and do research for these threads. Math isn't your forte, is it. LOL

Sean's FR bashing predates the Miers thing by a VERY long time; years, actually.

Registered, I don't know if you'd call it a merger or not, but MCDC is now an affiliate of DA, according to press releases. This article talks about how MCDC is now "a project of the Declaration Alliance", which sounds to me as if the DA is now in control of MCDC.

The reason was supposed to be (according to the article) because DA had the established abilities to handle the fundraising, financial, and legal technicalities that a brand-new grassroots organization might have problems with...

But it doesn't sound as if DA has yet gotten tax-exempt status for MCDC, and they obviously either haven't gotten the finances straightened out or don't want to tell people what they are doing with the money.

Simcox's supporters don't "think"; they "FEEL"; they also don't appear to have much in the way of actual facts.
