From the article:
Lynns father, police Capt. William Lynn, traveled to Baghdad to provide moral support for his son. Capt. Lynn, who was reached Sunday night by phone, said he returned late Saturday night and he would be at work Monday.
Lynn and Ortiz commanding officer, Capt. Luis Gansell, filed the charges and testified by phone at the Article 32 hearing, William Lynn said.
Gansell believed Nathan did nothing wrong, Lynn said. When asked at the hearing why he decided to file charges of voluntary manslaughter and conspiracy, Lynn said, Gansell responded it was done to try and get Nathan to talk about somebody else.
They charged my son with manslaughter to flip on somebody else, Lynn said. When asked who it was, Lynn said Ortiz.
But he didnt know anything about Ortiz or what Ortiz did in March. They messed with that kids life on a ploy, basically, Lynn said.
It is more of a personality conflict than a military conflict, Melissa Ortiz said.
She said she isnt pleased with mainstream media coverage of the incident. They made it seem like he (Zaben) was outside his house doing gardening.
Typical of the MSM. I really loathe them! I feel a giant raspberry coming on...
PPPPTHHHHHPPPPTTTT ::RAZZ::
Now back to the GREAT news about these two men!
I'm surprised no one has talked about the CPT who filed the charges even though he didn't believe the soldier did anything wrong.
This CPT was playing with someones life, career and family because he thought he might roll over on someone else.
I can't express the disbelief I have with this officers action. This is why I always tell my soldiers NEVER talk to the MPs or CID without a lawyer. Ask for one first thing and don't let them try to tell you that you don't need one. Even if your witness, I would want a lawyer.
