Fox News chairman Ailes calls Olbermann `over the line'

PASADENA

Fox News Channel chairman and CEO Roger Ailes responded to Keith Olbermann's latest critical volley against Bill O'Reilly on Monday, saying the MSNBC host's behavior "is over the line."

Ailes, appearing Monday at the summer meeting of the Television Critics Association, said Olbermann takes shots at Fox's O'Reilly because it boosts his ratings.

"Clearly he has no viewers except those he gets when he attacks Fox News, and particularly has made himself committed to continuing to attack Bill," Ailes said.

Olbermann opened his Saturday session at the critics' meeting by whipping out a mask of O'Reilly and giving a Nazi salute.

"I really think that's over the line," Ailes said.

During his "Countdown" show on MSNBC, Olbermann regularly tweaks O'Reilly. Olbermann has named O'Reilly his "Worst Person in the World" at least 15 times. The nightly "award" is Olbermann's way of criticizing bad behavior.

O'Reilly has referred to Olbermann although not by name as a "notorious smear merchant" and pointed out the low ratings for "Countdown."

"The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox is No. 1 in the cable TV news ratings. Olbermann generally runs third in the same time slot.

Also Monday, Ailes said Fox will mark its 10th anniversary with a 10-city "Thank You America" tour this fall. Shows fronted by O'Reilly, Shepard Smith, Greta Van Susteren, Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes, and Neil Cavuto will do live audience versions from cities around the country, including Boston, Chicago, Dallas and San Diego.

"Maybe he'll go back to SportsCenter, I actually liked him there."

Yeah he really was pretty good on SportsCenter back in the day.

As the late, great comedian Brother Dave Gardner might have said about wacky Keith: "Pay no attention - he's on dope"

He's down to one viewer.
He screwed the other one and then dumped her. She's the one who released those emails he wrote.

He shouldn't dignify his existence with acknowledgment. Now his ratings will be up 10% with an extra 10 or so people tuning in to see what he's going to say about it.

No kidding! I'm not even a B.O. fan and even I KNOW THAT, for pitty sakes!

He couldn't hold a job on Channel 13 in Los Angeles (inside joke)..how the hell he got bumped to ESPN and beyond cannot be due to his onscreen talents....(think 2006-style Hollywood Casting Couch)

He and Dan Patrick ruled on SportsCenter. I wonder how he became such a jerk-off. Olbermann is James Woods' characters in the movies. Just oozes slime.

He's still a good sports commentator, I hear him on XM on the Dan Patrick show some afternoons.
Most sports media guys are left wingers, they are usually smart enough to keep their mouths shut about politics.

Unless you've already seen it, you will probably enjoy my spoof of the left in a humorous cartoon-like post. If you like it, I hope you'll give it a bump:

Now hold on there! I've always liked James Woods as an actor and besides, he's one of the few that seems conservative.
