Agreed, this all frustrates me to no end - I cannot comprehend why the administration is so silent about this great success story unless they have some great secrets to preserve about how far along Libya really got (maybe VERY close) or what their sources were, who helped us to crack the case, etc. I would think that by now a lot of the Libya story could be told publicly, but maybe we made secrecy commitments to other governments, intel agencies, etc.

There are some who believe that Libya's WMD programs were really Saddam's WMD programs, in particular the nuclear weapons program. No wonder Kay and Blix couldn't find the nukes, they were looking in the wrong place! Clues would be if it can be confirmed that many of the WMD scientists and technicians were Iraqis, and if the technique used in Libya for Uranium enrichment somehow involves "plasma" as documented in the now public captured Iraqi papers and tapes. If true, then case closed- Bush vindicated, Liberals debunked, and the West saved.

The President mentioned Libya in a June 28, 2005
speech regarding Iraq and the WOT in general.
"Before our coalition liberated Iraq, Libya was secretly pursuing nuclear weapons. Today the leader of Libya has given up his chemical and nuclear weapons programs."
However, the President should reiterate this success from time to time as well (since the media won't). And especially since most folks aren't familiar with this story.
