It's not surprising - the snippet from the Haaretz story sounds like Hezbollah is working from the same playbook as the Democrats:

Hezbollah admitted in a statement Sunday that IDF troops had taken over the village, but called the move a defeat for Israel.

The Democrats always label their election defeats as "victories". Come to think of it, Baghdad Bob was known for describing Iraqi defeats as great victories. Could Baghdad Bob be a Democrat too?
