"I doubt it; the Mousterian is mostly associated with Homo Neanderthalensis."
Mickey was NOT queer.
Overwhelming! I have every book he wrote, I read them continously.

A believer, huh? I gather you have also seen some "misses" by V as well? This Venus thing(amongst others?) someone else pointed out has been used to discredit most everything else he did apparently. What might I want to know about the "scientific community" that would lead them as a group to do this? Maybe I've led a sheltered life, but I can't conceive of this type behavior from trained "scientists". What have I missed?

AUC is a good compromise.
The beavers back then were really big and but really big dams...
I'm thinking more of glacial dams, such as what they have in Iceland, and geothermal energy fosters a
"catastrophic" releases of water.
So, perhaps the water was released by activity in the Yellowstone caldera region?
The first piece indicates he had detractors, but doesn't come near explaining why. Am I to infer from some of what I've read that his "enemies" were enemies because he was basing his writings on Biblical and other ancient texts? Or is there something more? This is all pretty confusing to a newbie to V.

Did V write this piece?

YES!

I think you will find the answer to that question here:

Hmmmmmm. He stepped on just about everybody's toes in that one didn't he? Israel/Jews being a notable exception it would seem. Whaddaya bet the Swiss bankers were getting a workout???

The Australian philosopher, David Stove wrote later: "Newtonian physics is a guarantee against the occurrence of - just about anything disagreeable.... That this belief survived to some extent even up to the mid-20th century, is strongly suggested by the irrational hostility with which Immanuel Velikovsky's theories were received in 1950." That belief and the irrational hostility to his theories still survive. Velikovsky was effectively ambushed at the 1974 AAAS conference in San Francisco where he again explained to those who weren't paying attention the first time: "I was greatly surprised to find that astronomy, the queen of sciences, lives still in the pre-Faraday age, not even in the time of kerosene lamps, but of candles and oil." Nothing has changed; so powerful is the Newtonian ideology.

I often think V made a mistake going to the US and working from Princeton. But where else - a Russian Jew - he emigrated to the US in 1939 from Israel.
From 1921 to 1924 he edited, with Albert Einstein, the Scripta Universitatis atque Bibliothecae Hierosolymitarum, from which the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was to grow.
Earth In Upheaval is a very interesting read, deals with geology and physical evidence, not myth.
Well actually, no, but an absolutely terrific read nonetheless! I still don't have a bona fide clue why the scientific community would behave the way they do. Are their sacred cows really that sacred? You know, it looks to me like we have a Ministry of Science, if not in fact, at least in practice. I've asked the question before without getting an acceptable response: What's really at risk here??? In my best Karl Sagan voice: Bullion$ and bullion$?
Or maybe it's more than that. What happens to the scientific community if they are found to be frauds by the public? A loss of confidence by the unwashed could create all manner of problems, eh? Losing confidence in one institution might lead to questions about all institutions? Sheesh!
Wow...could somebody have been playing around with antimatter way back then??? An early civilization wiping itself out?
It's a house of cards.
Do you have an opinion as to what purpose? I'm not a scientist and don't play one, etc, but there are any number on this forum that could maybe shed some light. For whatever reasons, they choose to remain silent. Or maybe their guess is as good as mine?

A bit more reading for you.
Well, that may not be that much of a stretch, but I wouldn't be the one to attempt an explanation. Fred has forced me to go back to the beginning of this thread's links(or elsewhere) and see what I can see re the little spherules found around various parts of the country. For example, amongst other things, could an object entering our atmosphere at drag racing speed create some really big sparks at some point?
