It would be a huge strategic miscalculation to let Syria off the hook just for them offering a few carrots. Syria is just as complicit in this as Iran and Ass-hat was, is and always will be a terrorist. He knows that as this escalates his shaky grip on power is tenuous at best. He threw his hat in the ring with a nutjob and now he is running backwards. About a week ago, he was saying that his army was ready to attack Israel, now he is ready to help with a ceasefire? Sorry but this clown needs to go; just ask the Hariri family.

I have a feeling that Syria is about to break from Iran. Assad is a fool but he isn't crazy and I suspect that he knows that his partner in Iran is nuts.

Even though I don't care for Assad, I agree, he's not crazy. The fact that he mentioned Israel pulling out of the Golan Heights, when he knows Israel won't, is an indication he wants to at least crack the door open a little bit. The Golan Heights thing was just a ruse on his part to open negotiations.
