The idea that schools could socialize children to value neutral codes of conduct and ethics is an oxymoronic absurdity. It is also a moral statement in and of itself.
It is also a violation of the First Amendment, which prohibits any restraint on the "free exercise" of religion by government entities.
It is also an abuse of taxpayer money, since I don't think anyone is sending their children to school to be "socialized to value neutral codes of conduct and ethics." I send my kids to school to learn to read and write!
It is also an attempt to usurp what has always been a parental prerogative -- indeed an obligation: to rear one's children to reflect those values the parents hold dear, not necessarily those espoused by the State.

Government schools violate freedom of assembly by forcing children into its buildings ( kiddy prisons) by threat of police action.
Once in the government buildings children are told to shut up. Their freedom to publish is eliminated. They can not express or practice their religious belief freely. They are FORCED to assemble with those of the government's choosing.
And,,,,the government subjects them to a non- neutral religious indoctrination.
All of this is prohibited in our state and federal constitutions. Why? Because they are human rights.
If state constitutions call for free government owned and run schools then their is an internal conflict within the document, because Government schools and First Amendment rights can NOT co-exist. It is axiomatic!
