An interesting thought that I heard today - cannot remember who said it =

The democrats used to be the socially conservative party - blue collar, faith, family, etc - and they got taken over in the 1970s by the proponents of abortion, as well as by other special interest groups. Many socially conservative dems eventually moved to the Republican party, while socially liberal Republicans moved into the Dem party.

Since we are the party that has more respect for life, we should thrive, while the other shrinks.

I have heard that as well. It's usually said of "Reagan conservatives" and the so-called "neo-conservative" factions of the GOP.

But, I do agree with you on blue collar Southern Democrats changing because of social issues. Add in tax reduction and old time Democrats are usually more comfortable with Republicans who are not promoting socialism and the welfare state.

Democrats have reduced themselves to inciting hysteria to win elections. Global warming, energy problems or homophobia, they have to use emotions to win elections. Logic fails them.

#272, you are correct about that. Abortion has made a huge difference in Voting and Majorities. Little did the radical feminists and their "Nancy Boy" male(51 percent male hormones makes them male)Comrades know what repercussions would be created by their all out war against Babies in the Womb. The Democrats will be losing Voters for many Generations to come because of Abortion on demand dwindling their numbers. They have to make up for those never ending losses so they try to give Convicted felons, and illegals the right to vote, and flim flam every election. That is one reason why Governor Rutabaga in New Mexico pushed for Paper ballots, and all his cronies in the Secretary of State's office there. He promised New Mexico to John Kerry and the Dems in 2004 and he failed miserably because he did not have the paper ballots.
