Police find deadly machine pistol in firearms arsenal

A DEADLY Mac 10 machine pistol that can fire 1,000 rounds a minute was among an arsenal of firearms seized by police.
Officers discovered the lethal 9mm firearm - a favourite weapon of gangsters - together with two Eastern European-made Markarov automatic pistols, silencers, 150 rounds of ammunition and 30,000 ecstasy tablets and cocaine.
The haul was discovered in the boot of a car parked in Sumner Road, Peckham, on Tuesday.
Officers taking part in Southwark's Operation Hamrow anti-gun crime initiative searched the vehicle after receiving intelligence it might contain guns and drugs.
Detectives are now hunting the vehicle's owner, who was not at the scene when police made the find. No arrests had been made as we went to press yesterday.
Southwark police's Superintendent Dave Chinchen said: "Operation Hamrow has been deployed since November last year to target those responsible for gun crime in the area.
"Only this week, this operation resulted in the seizure of four firearms, some 150 rounds of ammunition and a significant quantity of controlled drugs.
"In addition to this operation, the police are deploying armed officers, together with camera systems, to stop and search those vehicles known or suspected to be involved in this type of offence.
"We are operating to make Southwark a very unfriendly place for those intent on carrying and using firearms."

I'm not familiar with the Mac 10. Is a 16+ rounds per second firing rate even possible? That seems a bit high to me.
I think it was near 1200 cyclic.

It is not belt fed, and you need more time to change the magazines.
Yeah..of course but I think it was 1.5 seconds per mag (unless it stovepiped)

If you think the British people are weak because they (shock horror) want to run their own country the way they want, then you are sadly mistaken.
According to some of the sites I checked, it's rated at 1000 rounds per minute. The sites also stated it was very difficult to control in full auto mode. It's been around in one form or another since 1964, and it's primary benefits appear to be that it's simple and easy to manufacture. Others here with more firearms knowledge can probably correct or add on to what I've found.
