My country has been "torn to shreds,"said Fouad Siniora, the prime minister of Lebanon, as the death toll among his people passed 300 civilian dead, 1000 wounded, with half a million homeless.
Israel must pay for the "barbaric destruction," said Siniora.
To the contrary, says columnist Lawrence Kudlow, "Israel is doing the Lord's work."
On American TV, former Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu says the ruination of Lebanon is Hezbollah's doing. But is it Hezbollah that is using U.S.-built F-16s, with precision-guided bombs and 155-mm artillery pieces to wreak death and devastation on Lebanon?

"Excellent analysis in both posts # 55 and # 56"
Re: 56, Look, I fully support Israel and all Conservative Americans but right now the lunatic fringe Left would fall apart without the American Jews. They are the leaders, financers, majority interest, voters, bloggers, etc. Of course the Right has many excellent Jewish commentators (Levin, Savage, Krauthammer, Kristol, etc.). Israel is a different case, of course they are conservative - or they would perish.
I'm not so sure the moonbats would fall apart without Jewish support. The moonbats have always been with us and since McGovern have been making a relentless effort to take over the Democratic Party or as some might say to take down the party.
I tend to believe it'll be the latter.
They are addicted to power and will say or do anything to have it, look at the Democrats.
Like many fellow FReepers, I used to admire Pat, and I thought his speech at the 1992 GOP convention was superb. Now I see a bitter hack blaming everything on Jews and the "amen corner in Washington" he scorns. Joe can still write some interesting columns provided they don't touch on politics, but his constant philosophizing on the nature of the state has practically turned into an excuse for his disdaining his country in the style of some Hollywood expatriate.
