No, this is not our war: Buchanan barf alert

My country has been "torn to shreds,"said Fouad Siniora, the prime minister of Lebanon, as the death toll among his people passed 300 civilian dead, 1000 wounded, with half a million homeless.
Israel must pay for the "barbaric destruction," said Siniora.
To the contrary, says columnist Lawrence Kudlow, "Israel is doing the Lord's work."
On American TV, former Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu says the ruination of Lebanon is Hezbollah's doing. But is it Hezbollah that is using U.S.-built F-16s, with precision-guided bombs and 155-mm artillery pieces to wreak death and devastation on Lebanon?
No, Israel is doing this with the blessing and without a peep of protest from President Bush. And we wonder why they hate us. . . .

Looks like Buchanan has gone over to the dark side. Otherwise, how can we account for the fact that he considers Israel and the U.S. to be a greater danger to the world than radical Islamism? What is he smoking? I give up, I don't understand so-called conservatives like Buchanan and Sobran.

Buchanan has been an idiot for some time now. I think he just likes to hear himself talk. Thank God that GWB doesn't listen to people like Pat...

I'm amazed that Pat Buchanan would write this. I used to be a Pat fan too.

Buchanan has been an idiot for some time now. I think he just likes to hear himself talk. He needs to gracefully retire somewhere and take up a hobby that he would enjoy. He needs to disappear from the political landscape as well. His commentary and his stance on national and global issues doesn't appeal to many. Say good bye Pat.

Pat and sobran found they could get "respect" from the RAT media by pretending to be conservatives and trashing the GOP. They've both been disgusting opportunists for some time, but lately they've both reached the point of being unhinged. It's a shame, because I used to enjoy watching Pat shred the lefties on the talk shows, and sobran was an interesting writer when he wasn't blathering about how Shakespeare wasn't really Shakespeare

Yes, Israel has the upper hand. Good! Would Buchanan prefer a tit for tat? Kill one of ours, we kill one of yours? You launch an imprecise SCUD, killing civilians, and we do the same?? Gad, what fools we allow to speak. Their sense of fairness is off-base.

I have enjoyed listening to and reading Pat Buchanan in the past. But I do not agree with him (or Joseph Sobran) on this war.
I think his problem stems from too narrow a conception on religion. It is certainly O.K. for Christians to be pro-Christian. But that does not have to mean exclusion of Jews. Dennis Prager has written excellent articles on America's Judao-Christian heritage. I see no reason why Christians and observant Jews should not be the best of friends and allies. Secular Jews are like secularists in general and tend toward socialism. Whey they go too far, communism is an example, that must be resisted. Islam is a problem because Mohamed was a militant Jihadists. For that reason, moderate Muslims who learn more of their heritage may choose a dangerous and immoderate course. Islam is inherently dangerous, unlike Christianity nor Judaism. I think Israel is waging war on terror and nothing more. They are our ally, and we don't have that many in this world.

While Buchannan wonders why they hate us, we have been asking for years if he hates jews. He has a history of opposing Israel.

It is perfectly acceptable to have Hezbollah turn southern Lebanon into a firebase from which to lob hundreds of rockets into Israel but it is not acceptable for Israel to attack Hezbollah because Hezbollah is in Lebanon?
Pat, you are either a demagogue or an idiot.

Wish I had said this; well done. Pat is, despite his insistence otherwise, a common garden variety anti-semite if an anti-semite is labeled such for what they say over and over and over. It speaks to opportunism as well in currying face time in the media from the left wing media, also verifiably anti-semitic.
To: steadfastconservative
He sounds just like Cindy Sheehen and the other liberal cowards. Pat doesn't think Israel has a right to defend itself if it might cause the terrorist to hate us a little more. When has Hezbollha,Hamas,Iran or Syria not hated America?
