Where in Kentucky did you grow up? I grew up on the Kentucky/West Virginia border and there were several Lebanese and Syrian families on both sides of the border. They were all members of my parish. I absolutely loved the Lenten dinners because of the wonderful foods these folks would bring. They too were pillars of the community and good merchants.

My cousin is married to a Lebanese Christian guy, whose family has been here for a hundred years. They don't speak Arabic any more but they have some incredible family recipes. He is a real stand-up guy, a cowboy type in fact, who owns a contracting business and makes the world a better place wherever he goes.
