The casual TV viewer has probably noticed two things during the past few days theres a war in the Middle East, and Newt Gingrich is commenting on it. Gingrich has been a ubiquitous analyst on the war ubiquity being one of the tireless, outsized former House speakers favorite qualities. In between appearances in his role as a commentator for the Fox News Channel, Gingrich announced on Meet the Press that we are in the midst of World War III. A few days later, Hezbollah declared that it welcomed World War III, nicely capturing the moment: Simultaneous with its shooting war with Israel, Hezbollah is in a war of words with Newt Gingrich.
The old conventional wisdom about Gingrich was that we wouldnt have him to kick around anymore. The new conventional wisdom is that hes back, and hes doing the kicking. Ousted by his own party after its losses in the 1998 midterm elections, Gingrich has reestablished himself as a party leader through sheer intellectual energy. He has had something intelligent to say about literally every issue of the hour, from health care to Katrina to the war on terror. He has helped himself immensely hes all over the place, says former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie.
............We could run Mother Theresea and they'd make her look worse than Jeffery Dahmer. Might as well as get hanged for a sheep as a lamb.
Thats very true. When the DRats have KKK Byrd as the senior senate statesman and they had George Bush driving a pickup truck around Texas with chains hanging off the back.
Regarding post #20....
here is what Rudy will do to the party.
.
.
.
That is a classic.
I don't think he has a serious shot, but I wish he did, and I'd love to change that.
That's all fine and good , but his capitulation in trying to maintain those gains resulted in losses and bad legislation . Newt went from a fighter to a compromiser and he comprimised on all the wrong issues . Bottom line , Newt would get shredded in a head to head matchup, not intellectually, but on a personal level .
If Newt does start to have an effect the media will just reveal the sex kitten under his desk. And what ever number wife he has at the time will come on TV and denounce him for the cheating S.O.B. he is.
Newt is a lot dumber than Bill Clinton. Clinton married a woman who did not care if he cheats. Newt always marries women who do.
If Newt got the nomination bet the farm that about two weeks before the election the media would spring a bimbo eruption that would be heard around the world .... complete with a sobbing wife and at least two crying bimbos chanting in unison, "He betrayed us.. He will betray you."
Which divorce? Number one or number two?
If Republicans can support Rudy Guiliani and McCain, then they can support Newt Gingrich.
He won't ever be President, but I've got good news for Newt... I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico. (Isn't a newt something like a gecko?)
Sounds like a perfect fit for the gop in '08
It doesn't surprise me that you took that paragraph out of context, because most of your posts show a similar selective effort to be deceptive and (ironically) egomanically superior about your pristine brand of "conservatism."
So here are a few of the key phrases you seem to have missed:
"...pervasive illegal immigration to the United States... has an insidious effect on the rule of law undermining the very foundations of our democratic society. We see how it already teaches some American businesses to violate the law routinely.... there is growing political agreement around a comprehensive immigration plan that includes total border control, stepped-up enforcement of employment laws, a temporary worker program, and a more aggressive commitment to educating new citizens about U.S. history and the English language.... Any new proposal should sanction severely employers who willfully break the law by hiring workers without verifying legal status or by failing to pay employment taxes on them... the Senate proposal discussed this week represents a cave-in and not a compromise because it would establish amnesty for those who have successfully broken the law long enough....Not only is it very important that America control its borders for national security reasons, it is imperative that America continue to develop a system to encourage patriotic legal immigration whereby immigrants are on the path to becoming American citizens by being patriotically integrated and assimilated into American society."
...a comprehensive immigration plan that includes total border control, stepped-up enforcement of employment laws, a temporary worker program, and a more aggressive commitment to educating new citizens about U.S. history and the English language."
I would agree with everything in that statement IF it were done in the order described, and the best part ....
No amnesty !
"Bottom line , Newt would get shredded in a head to head matchup, not intellectually, but on a personal level ."
I agree. As implied in my first post, Newt has enormous intellectual strengths, but he's weaker on the human element, which causes him to make himself vulnerable when strong alliances are needed.
...complete with a sobbing wife and at least two crying bimbos chanting in unison, "He betrayed us.. He will betray you."
Like John Dollars (Corzine) Governor of New Jersey !!!
...only because he is a Conservative Republican, of course.
True...if only because he'll never make it out of a Republican primary with his baggage.
It's only my personal opinion, but I don't want him in charge of this country's armed forces.
OTOH, if he were to be the Republican nominee for the President, I'd vote for him over any Democrat.
Thankfully, I have two years to prepare for that possibility.
I think that you might be on the wrong site!!!!!!!
... A newt is a young frog with a tail ??
I don't see how the media could turn it into a moral face-off when his opponent will probably be Hitlery.
I think that you might be on the wrong site!!!!!!!
Why do you think that?
