Which means at this point that the burden is on Mr. Thompson to supply evidence:
# that there is a "George Harleigh"; and
# and that he is the man described and quoted in innumerable articles, who taught Political Science at SIU and worked in the Nixon and Reagan administrations.
If "George Harleigh" is a pseudonym, that fact should be disclosed, and if there is a person calling himself "George Harleigh" whose remarks are being repeated, it falls on Doug Thompson to provide some evidence that this man is who he says he is.
Under the circumstances, until I hear otherwise, I think it is entirely reasonable to conclude that:
# there is no former political science professor named "George Harleigh" who worked for Nixon and Reagan; and
# Quotations attributed to him are inherently unreliable, and cast serious doubt on the credibility of sites which rely on them.
Again, if my suspicions turn out to be wrong, I'll certainly acknowledge that with apologies to Doug Thompson and George Harleigh.

Doug Thompson makes Wayne Madsen look like a credible source of news.
BTW...you are missing THE 39 STEPS, right now, which is still a great movie, no matter how many times one sees it. :-)
LOL...true and that's saying something!
Yes, looking through CHB there seem to be various other names - even Thompson might not be so bold as to make all of them up!! Still, I note that a huge proportion of the articles, almost all of the ones I've looked at just now, are merely re-posted from the AP. So I am getting the impression that aside from re-posting lots of newswire stories, much or all of the "original" content on the site may be a little bit TOO original, as in "Dougie Thompson made it up."???
Exactly so!
From Classical Values.
LOL! :-)
Thanks for the ping, and a 'just back from vacation' bump.

It has been pointed out to me that Doug Thompson is at it again!! Now he is claiming to have heard George Allen make racist remarks 15 - 20 years ago.... given Thompson's total lack of credibility and obvious tendency to fabricate, this is extremely suspicious to say the least:

Doug Thompson scumbag alert!
People who know far more than I do about Thompson's notorious history may want to look at what he's trying to do to George Allen now (see link in my previous post). I have no idea whether Thompson helped to originate any of the current controversy for George Allen, but good heavens, Thompson is definitely trying to pour gasoline on the flames with what is most likely a completely fabricated "personal history" with Allen. I don't doubt that Thompson may have met Allen on some occasions, but I sure do doubt whether Thompson is an honest and reliable source for anything that Allen supposedly said!
Thompson is a drunk and a liar and a fabricator of completely bogus political "hit pieces".
Ping...Appy Pappy’s update on the status of Doug Thompson, who apparently ran into a cow :

Doug Thompson, who many of us old-timers remember from the Clinton years, is in critical condition after hitting a cow while Doug was riding his motorcycle.
Doug was a player in the anti-Clinton campaign with his website Capital Hill Blue. CHB was frequently cited on FreeRepublic during those years. He has since become a big broken-glass Democrat and retired to Floyd County to pursue photography.
Adding to the thread- CHB turns out was under new ownership since March 2003 though they kept Thompson on. Bought by journalists to experiment with ‘new techniques’ for web journalism...maybe they meant new techniques for fake news.

Capitol Hill Blue, the oldest daily news site on the Internet, has been sold to a group of working Washington journalists.
Doug Thompson Media, owner and operator of the web site since its debut on the Web on October 1, 1994, announced today that it has agreed to sell the site to Capitol Hill Journalism Partnership.
“Capitol Hill Blue is a pioneer in web-based journalism,” said partnership spokesman William J. Lowrey. “We intend to honor that tradition and improve upon it.”
The partnership is composed of working, Washington-based journalists who work for print, broadcast and web-based media outlets.
“We intend to use Blue as a test bed for new techniques and concepts for web journalism,” Lowrey said.
Capitol Hill Blue first appeared on the web on October 1, 1994, as a one-page weekly newsletter published by veteran journalist Doug Thompson. He expanded publication to daily on January 1, 1995, and the site gained fame during the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky scandals of the Clinton administration.
Thompson left the publication earlier this month to pursue new opportunities.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. The new owners will take control of the web site on April 1, 2003.
