For what it's worth, Uri Dan, the New York Post's longtime Israel supporter who had close ties to former Israeli PM Sharon thought a ground invasion was imminent within days in his reports for this MORNING's New York Post. The front page of today's New York Post says "INVADE: Israel will send troops into Leb".

Of course, the New York Post got Kerry's veep pick spectacularly wrong, though. So take it with a grain of salt.
