I just finished reading and outstanding bio of John Adams and they had the same press and Congressional problems we have now. Their press was WICKED.

That's why I laugh every time someone says we've never been more divided. Geez, we had a civil war once.

I actually think we're getting about as divided as they were right before the Late Unpleasantness, as some people call it. At least no reps or senators have taken to beating the other with a cane like not long before the Civil War...
