"I searched the Pennsylvania newspapers and did not find ANY reporting on Murtha's vote on this important issue."
The pledge issue is nothing more than pandering for votes. It's not important.

Well, if it's pandering for votes why doesn't this make the papers?

Why would people vote for something THEY do not think is important?
This week we had a primary election in Georgia and about 20% of eligible voters bothered to cast a vote. I guess it wasn't IMPORTANT to them to do so.
Just because you do not think it is important does not mean it is not very important to other people.

"The pledge issue is nothing more than pandering for votes. It's not important." Your's and John Murtha's opinions aren't important either. But to most people the Pledge of Allegiance issue is symbolic of a much greater issue.

The pledge issue is nothing more than pandering for votes. It's not important. You're wrong.
This is one of the many thousand cuts of death to our Republic and America as a whole. Apparently you never heard of the "broken window" theory. When the little stuff goes, the opposition moves on to bigger things for the kill. Sometimes it's important to focus on what you perceive as small potatoes.

The pledge issue is nothing more than pandering for votes. It's not important. The most ridiculous part is that a socialistic pledge written by a socialist to advance socialist ideology has become a fetish with which to whore for conservative votes....
