Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Lieberman the one who ticked off his party and his campaign by publically saying that the military ballots had to be accepted and counted?

It's been nearly six years now, so maybe it's just my memory that's faulty ... but I remember a lot of accusations from other Democrats about how his support for the inclusion of the military ballots undermined the Gore campaign.
