Minutemen skeptical of ties with Keyes project (Funding Questions)
The Washington Times ^ | 7-20-06 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 07/20/2006 12:08:29 AM PDT by Anti-Bubba182

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps calls itself a "project of the Declaration Alliance," although few MCDC volunteers know what the alliance does or why Minuteman donations are routed through the charity founded and headed by conservative activist Alan Keyes.

Several Minuteman leaders and members questioned the wisdom of ceding control over fundraising to the Herndon-based Declaration Alliance, part of an intricate weave of conservative organizations founded and chaired by Mr. Keyes or tied to longtime Keyes associates working with MCDC.

MCDC President Chris Simcox told The Washington Times that the alliance offers "an experienced organization for mass mailings, advertising and public relations" and the ability to conduct a "fully accredited and independent audit" of MCDC finances.

Mr. Simcox said he "checked these people out very carefully before agreeing to work with them" and that he made the "correct decision" in hiring "clean professional consultants, accountants and media professionals." He did not, however, disclose during an interview last week or in a 3,961-word follow-up statement how much Declaration Alliance and its affiliated organizations have been paid for their services

During the interview, he said, "Not one cent of MCDC money has been spent on alliance projects." The statement, released on the MCDC Web page, www.minutemanhq.com/hq/, does not mention Declaration Alliance or Mr. Keyes. ...."

"..Diener Consultants first contacted the Minuteman organization in early 2005, said Ms. Hair, the MCDC spokeswoman who also was a top adviser to Mr. Keyes in his presidential and senatorial races. She said she called Mr. Simcox after the Minuteman group was created to ask whether he had a media plan. After being told no, she said, she met with Mr. Simcox and Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist in Washington and signed an agreement...."

You should go back and look at the joke the other threads are becoming. I would say self-feeding destruction.
When you have to post from paranoid moonbats to take someone down, you had better have your facts together.
I wont help with your opposition research. And using research from leftist sites and those with an axe to grind wont persuade most folks.

Especially when the Washington Times,Reuters,AP and UPI pick them up almost verbatim.

Save our State will become collateral damage. That's the intent of the majority of the anti-simcox posters. They are not your friends.

Remember that when you quote hoplophobes and open borders advocates for your opposition research.

Wont make a whit of difference to the MMDC. Apparently the negative posters do not trust the IRS and AZ Attorney General, the Cochise County Sherriff's department, the Cochise County tax assessors or any other law enforcement to do their job. So they are flinging manure.

No, mostly, like the other MM groups, we don't trust Simcox.

What exactly is a hoplophobe? Someone who fears guns?

And it is disturbing that the primary "conspiracy" complaint is that Simcox allied with conservative Republican groups. While Gilchrist not only ran third party but he ran against a Republican in a General Election. I was present a number of times when Gilchrist was interviewed by various media outlets during the April 2005 operation and I can tell you definitively that his views are not in line with conservative Republican views.

Interesting thing, that.

He does claim that they give a "psychological screening" to weed out Racists and psychotics but since many have, according to him, reached management levels in MCDC then I would assume he could pass that one too.

What's the matter Tex; It's been about 2 weeks; you guys should have found some felonious material by now. Enough to call the Arizona State Troopers and have him frog marched off!

The only thing that's happened is the media is reading the posts and rehashing them as "news".

I guess it's not as easy to "get" Simcox as it was Dan Rather.

He only took 1 news cycle.

Most of the groups he's allied with are conservative in the same way that Jim Bakker was Christian.

Well it has been 2 weeks and Simcox hasn't coughed up any evidence the refutes the accusations made. So by my count, the evidence of probable cause far outweighs evidence of innocence.
