The Times is in the business of selling papers. It is thrilled that it is getting all this attention. Whether the allegations are from an anonymous source or an examination of hard documents such as cancelled checks does not matter to them.

As one who is pro open borders (with exceptions) I hope that there is no scandal here. I'd like to debate the border issue on its merits and not be distracted by ad hominem.

If the bookeeping was sloppy but no money was misused that is not being illegal. It is just being undocumented. No big deal.

On the other hand, if money was misused (eg in a political campaign) in violation of some law, then it becomes a little more serious. For me, how serious depends on the law. If the law repeals the First Amendment Freedom of Speech as some campaign laws do, then I'm still still not bothered.

If you want to see real corruption. Forget the peanuts collected by the minutement from voluntary donations. Better to take a look at the misuse of money forcibly taken from my pocket here in Illinois and Crook County.
