Check out the ABeka Christian Acadamy DVD program. We started using it with no teaching background. It comes equiped with DVD's of actual classrooms, workbooks, and teacher's guides with suggested structured schedules. The child watches the classroom activity, does workbook activity, and then mom grades the work. Mom will learn right along with child. Everything is explained very easily. You'ld be surprised at what your daughter could do with a program like this.

I will. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Wintertime:
The very fact that you can afford to live where you do is due to the subsidy given to you by others who are earning far less.
There seems to be some economic logic missing here. How exactly do those that earn less subsidize anything I do? It's the reverse - those that earn more pay a much larger percentage of taxes thereby receiving less services for those monies. On the other hand, those at the bottom of the economic ladder pay much less in taxes, but receive more. That is what is unfair. The redistribution of earnings is unfairly applied to those that work the hardest.

I think wintertime is going beyond socialism and is trying to say that the underclasses are supporting the upperclasses. Sounds even more illogical than someone trying to argue for socialism.

Government schools are the BIGGEST welfare payment to the upper and middle classes that I can think of.
These are people who CAN and SHOULD be paying their own kid's tuition at school in the same way as they pay for their child's food, clothing, and housing.
I never heard anything so ridiculous. You think that people that pay 50% of their income in taxes need to pay for their children's tuition at public schools as well? You sound like a socialist liberal who is so envious that others have worked harder and earn more than you do that you can't see reality. Besides, you would need to change the Constitution and several Supreme Court rulings.

That's why I ended the conversation; the socialism was way too much for me, and I didn't even want to get into the VERY apparent economic and class envy.

As you said, it's an odd thing to see on FR!
